This philosophy, this ethic of
decisiveness, seems to inform his
view of life outside of work. With two
young kids, he sometimes cherishes
Mondays. “The harder work is kids,”
he jokes, adding that a well-balanced
life is critical. For him, that means
cycling, running, and spending time
with people who enrich his life.
Balance is also the foundation of
his optimism about South Africa.
He sees a country of “resilient,
adaptive people” and “amazing base
infrastructure.” He notes the recent
trend of people returning from
abroad, “There are lots of people
moving back to SA, it was net positive
from the UK last year, which is the
first time the direction changed.”
He sees them as people who, like
him, are choosing to commit to the
country’s future. “I think there are a
lot of people wanting to solve SA’s
problems.”
