LEGENDARY PROFESSIONALS
corporates take as a necessity
and not indulgence or marketing.
The portfolio’s extensive solar,
generator, and backup water systems
guarantee operational resilience.
Nosarka says, almost grinning, that
visiting European partners were
recently stunned when a bout of
load-shedding was resolved in thirty
seconds. “They were surprised”.
This resilience extends to the social
fabric. She points to interventions
like replacing pit latrines at a school
near a rural KZN property so matric
students could write their exams in
a dignified environment. The logic is
both holistic and pragmatic: a stable
community is a low-risk environment,
and a low-risk environment delivers
sustainable returns.
As the first woman to lead the
organisation, her advice to the next
generation is similarly direct. “Know
your worth.” It’s simple, she admits,
“but it takes years to embody.” For
her, that discipline of embodying your
own worth is partially in a “smelly,
boxy gym at 6 a.m.,” training with an
ex-professional boxer. The practice,
she explains, “brings a clarity, a
discipline.” It is the preparation
for what Nosarka says is the core
function of her job: “Your role as a
CEO is to deal with uncertainty.”
“KNOW YOUR
WORTH. BUT IT
TAKES YEARS
TO EMBODY.”
