LEGENDARY PROFESSIONALS
the lessons she learned while climbing
into something more tangible that
could be useful in her everyday life.
She began to share the experience
with others and her public speaking
career took off. One thing led to
another and Kloos launched her
mountaineering business full-time,
training other people to climb the
very same mountains that brought
her closer to herself. “I realised how
important it was for me to take people
to the places that transformed my life.”
Her approach to training and
personal coaching is very holistic,
and she focuses on all aspects of life.
The people who seek her services are
often already quite active and driven.
But what they get in the mountains
is a closer relationship to nature and,
by extension, a closer relationship to
themselves. “A lot of performancedriven people get too caught up with
their success and it becomes their
identity,” says Kloos. “I teach people
how to find themselves beyond their
perceived identities.”
When reflecting on her time spent
in the CEM faculty, Kloos admits
that she doesn’t use her degree
much anymore, given that she has
stopped consulting in the green
building space. But she can still
appreciate the lessons she learned in
her undergraduate years and through
her Honours degree. Kloos’ story is
invaluable – it serves as an incredible
example of resilience and drive.
