Eventually, he was appointed as an
honorary professor in 2022. “A great
honour for me!” he said during our
interview.
He also weighed in on advice
he would give to students who are
interested in entering academia, “In
my opinion, having a solid education
and several years of practical
experience is a great advantage.
For example, you know what is
important in practice and have a
network of contacts. In my case,
the prerequisite for a smooth return
was that I had kept in touch with
academia. Even as a management
consultant, I read academic journals,
attended conferences, gave lectures
and published at least one working
paper every year. It was exhausting

He also highlighted the importance of
focus and that academia is a career
not suited for everyone.
Outside of his work, Lausberg is
a family man at heart. He is married
and is the father of four children.
He lamented the fact that his family
hardly had time to be together but
looked forward to October and the
Christmas holiday when he could
be with his whole family. He also
enjoys sports, visits to the theatre
and outsings for dinner or wine with
family and friends.
